Artist's Description
The world's smallest and oldest republic, San Marino, consists of three ancient castles resting on steep cliffs. Cliff-top ridge stone path connects two of the castles; the 10th-century Rocca della Guaita and the 13th-century Rocca della Cesta. Every step of the way offers spectacular views of surrounding Italian landscape of Romagna, the Adriatic and town of Rimini. Visiting San Marino in the winter increases the appeal of the experience, since you have more or less the castles to yourself.
